The issues I have addressed concerning Israel, the land of Palestine, and the "Road Map to Peace" are of utmost importance, not only in regard to the present day crisis in the Middle East and the role the United States plays in these matters but in what the Sovereign God of the universe and His scriptures (the Holy Bible) have to say about these things. Regardless of what man has to say, and what he plans to do, the Word of the Living God must have, and will have, the final say.

I am writing this letter as well as sending you an outline in order to explain in simple biblical terms steps that must be taken in order to be God's instrument of victory in the above mentioned issues. Needless to say, these subjects are too vast to address in an outline; therefore, I will condense them as much as possible so each point can be easily understood when read. -- Sonny Payne

Letter to President George W. Bush - September 9, 2003

Mr. President:

Being a born-again believer in our Lord Jesus Christ, knowing and believing that the Bible is God's Word, you will understand the biblical terms, along with present day circumstances, that I use to state my case in the following outline.

First, let me begin by saying that God has exalted you to the highest position of leadership in our country; for that I am grateful. It is not an easy job, but God knew you could handle it rightly if you followed His leadership. There are many voices in the world, saying this and saying that, trying to influence your decisions. Some of these voices are right and some are very wrong. Our prayers are that you hear the right counsel and act on that counsel.

Your presidency goes beyond a human government position. It goes all the way to the throne of God. You are in a blood covenant relationship (Hebrews 13:20-21) with the God of all creation, and that is the ultimate privilege and responsibility. He has a plan that He wants you to carry out. As you do, you will be blessed beyond measure, even in and through the greatest trials and testings. If you follow the plans of man it will cost, not only you, but the United States of America. Your choices determine the course of history.

Please look at the following issues. Evaluate them with a prayerful and discerning heart, then act on God's Word. Satan hates you and the potential you have as our leader to do great damage to his kingdom of darkness. Don't look for the world to be with you. The world is walking in darkness, and, because of the influence of the enemy of our Father, they want to destroy every semblance of God and our Lord Jesus Christ on earth. Fear not! God is with you, and His precious Holy Spirit is living in you to guide and direct you daily (John 16:13). The prayers and support of every true follower of Jesus Christ, the Jewish Messiah, and Savior of the world, are with you. The family of God, worldwide, through prayer and intercession, along with His holy angels, are fighting with and for you. Put on the full armor of our Lord Jesus, and fight the good fight of faith. March on to victory!

Mr. President, there must come a peace in the land of Israel, before the battle of Gog and Magog in Ezekiel, chapters 38 and 39. This is not the battle of Armageddon, but a battle prior to that. You may well be the instrument to bring this peace about. However, it seems there may be a regional war in the Middle East before the battle of Gog and Magog. Psalm 83 speaks of a coalition of Middle Eastern nations who covenant together to make war against Israel and take over Palestine. According to biblical history, this war has not yet taken place. Also, Isaiah 17 says that Damascus will be destroyed in a last days battle. It is a possibility that Psalm 83 and Isaiah 17 could both be part of the same war. If so, Israel will win, although she will suffer great losses. This war may bring the needed peace. I don't know. What I do know is that the counsel you have been receiving, either from some of your close advisors or world leaders in regard to Israel needs to be reevaluated. You must not allow a terrorist state to be established in Israel. As you have said, "America will not negotiate with terrorists or the nations that harbor them." It doesn't matter if the entire world is against you; you have the Sovereign God of the Universe behind you as you walk in His will.

Mr. President, whether or not I ever have the honor to stand before you on these issues, know that my prayers are with you. I know that you deal with many other issues that we will never know about and that the "wide road" may seem more appealing; especially as it concerns Israel. I pray that this is not the path you choose. May God's richest blessings be yours, and may the counsel of the precious Holy Spirit guide you every day, in the wee hours of the morning, as well as in meetings with your staff and in foreign councils.
