Three World Wars for Israel
There is one nation that continues to make headlines almost every
day. Israel! Why? There are at least two reasons: One, they are
still God's Chosen People; and two, they are the key to the fulfillment
of end time prophetic events and the return of our Lord Jesus
Christ. Since this is true, then we should consider it very important
to us as the Church to understand God's plans for and His dealings
with, the Jewish people and the nation of Israel -- not only their
past history, but with our times.
In this lesson let's deal with Israel and the Jewish people in
relationship to two past events that God used as catalysts in
making them a nation again after 2,000 years of exile, along with
one future event that is going to fulfill God's plan for them
for the ages.
God chose the Jewish people as His blood covenant people, took
them out of Egypt, into Canaan-His holy borders-established them
as a covenant nation with a covenant city-Jerusalem-and a covenant
Temple, priesthood, etc. They rebelled against God, and He drove
them out; first to Assyria, then to Babylon, destroying Jerusalem
and the temple. God brought a remnant back under Ezra; then in
70 AD Titus destroyed the second temple, Jerusalem, and scattered
the people abroad in the Diaspora. God promised that in the last
days, before Jesus Christ returned, He would bring them back to
their own land. For over 2,000 years the Jewish people have wandered
in the nations of the world because of disobedience to God and
His covenants. Now over 5 million of the approximately 13 million
Jewish people worldwide are back in the land of Israel. But how
did God do it? Let's examine the issue.
Deuteronomy 7:6-8; Jeremiah 31:10, 27-28.
The United States of America has had the privilege of playing
a major final role in the reestablishment of Israel as a nation.
It is this fact that I want to emphasize in this teaching session..
Numbers 24:5-9: Verse 9 in Amplified Bible "...Blessed (of God)
is he who blesses you (who prays for and contributes to your welfare)
and cursed (of God) is he who curses you (who in word, thought,
or deed would bring harm upon you). In Joel 3:2, God says He will
judge the nations for two things: One for their treatment of His
people the Jews, and two, because they divided His land.
John Adams, the second president of the United States, told Major
Mordecai Manuel in a letter: "I really wish the Jews again in
Judea, an independent nation."
Did you know that WW I and WW II were for Israel in order to make
them a nation again, and to fulfill biblical prophecy? Did you
know that the United States was the major player in making this
happen?
Proverbs 21:1, "The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord, as
the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will."
WORLD WAR I: Two major events that turned history.
1. When Churchill was at the Admiralty in the British cabinet
something of great magnitude happened. Churchill biographer William
Manchester writes, "Turkey had joined no alliance. In 1911 its
leaders had wanted to ally themselves with the British empire,
but Churchill had replied that they had ideas above their station."
Then the Turks raised 6,000,000 among their people... for a down
payment for two battleships to be built in British shipyards.
In July, 1914, officers and sailors from Constantinople were on
hand to take delivery. But World War I was at hand, and Churchill
forbade their departure. Churchill told the British king they
had been "requisitioned." They were christened again the Agincourt
and the Erin. Turkey then turned to Germany, "which eagerly grasped
its hand."
Why was Churchill's decision concerning Turkey so important to
the Jewish people? Turkey and the Ottoman Empire had controlled
Palestine for 600 years, and after the war, had they been an ally
of Great Britain, would have maintained control. Also, the United
States would not have been brought into the war. Turkey, Britain,
and France would have defeated Germany.
2. In 1916, things looked bleak for Britain, as German artillery
was taking a heavy toll on Britains soldiers. A brilliant Jewish
man, Chaim Weizmann, invented a formula to rapidly product TNT
which helped the British win the war. Prime Minister David Lloyd
George asked Weizmann what he wanted. He requested a national
homeland for the Jewish people in Palestine. On November 2, 1917,
the Balfour Declaration was drawn up by Arthur J. Balfour, the
British Foreign Secretary. In 1917, General Allenby, who was a
Christian, entered Jerusalem and took control of Palestine from
Turkey. The control of the holy land went from a mostly Muslim
nation to a mostly Christian nation in one day.
In 1919, President of the United States Woodrow Wilson, who was
pro-Israel, was in Versailles to help in the formation of the
nation of Israel. On March 5, 1919 he announced that "the Allied
Nations...are agreed that in Palestine shall be laid the foundation
of a Jewish Commonwealth."
Winston Churchill, as British Colonial Secretary in March, 1921,
after W.W.I, speaking at the Hebrew University in Palestine said
"that the establishment of a Jewish National Home in Palestine
will be a blessing to...Great Britain."
Jewish people began to return in greater numbers to their God-given
homeland, the land of Israel. In the 1933 Hitler came into power
in Germany and only 21 years after the first World War, Germany
launched WW II. Hitler's objective was twofold: One, take over
the world. And two, to eliminate the Jewish people.
WORLD WAR II:
1. 1933 is the same year Hitler came to power in Germany and Franklin
D. Roosevelt became president of the United States of America.
2. In 1944 Henry Wallace was Franklin Roosevelt's Vice President.
He was far left in his politics. Roosevelt was growing weak and
tired physically and the Democrats did not want to chance Wallace
becoming president beyond 1945. They chose Harry Truman as Roosevelt's
running mate and both were elected in November 1944. They took
office January 20, 1945. Roosevelt died on April 12, 1945 and
Truman became president. As a side note, Hitler died April 30,
1945 by suicide. Both Roosevelt and Hitler took office in the
same year, 1933, and died in the same year, the same month, 1945.
In 1945 the war ended with the use of the atomic bomb. The inventor
was a Jewish man by the name of Robert Oppenheimer.
3. The Lord was preparing things to reestablish Israel as a nation,
and the United States was to be the primary instrument that He
would use to make this happen. Approximately two weeks after Truman
became President, the State Department sent a memo to Truman to
tell him that Roosevelt had met with King Ibn Saud of Saudi Arabia
and had "promised the King that as regards Palestine he would
make no move hostile to the Arab people and would not assist the
Jews as against the Arabs." The State Department was absolutely
opposed to the creation of a Jewish state in Palestine. If Roosevelt
and Wallace had been in office they would have probably listened
to the State Department and not helped Israel. God replaced them.
(Daniel 4:17).
4. April 2, 1947 the British asked the UN for help in resolving
the land of Palestine and the Jewish problem.. They recommended
two states, one Jewish, one Arab, in economic union, with Jerusalem
under direct U.N. Trusteeship. They passed the plan in principle
November 29, 1947 yet there was no framework internationally to
enforce it. The Arab nations were gathering forces to eliminate
the Jewish people in Palestine with a full military operation
planned in late March 1948. But something else had been taking
place. In November, 1947, President Truman met with Chaim Weizmann,
who was now an old man, but a leader of the Zionist movement.
He was living at the Waldorf Hotel in New York and took a train
to Washington D.C. November 19, met at the station by Supreme
Court Justice Felix Frankfurter and taken to the White House for
a 15 minute meeting with Truman. Truman assured Weismann he would
help fulfill the Balfour Declaration, help bring about a Jewish
State, and make easy access for displaced European Jews.
The Jewish position was quickly eroding in the U.N. so Truman's
former business partner, Eddie Jacobson, persuaded Truman to meet
with Weizmann again. Truman called the State Department and told
them. They did not like it. Truman's meeting with Weizmann on
March 18, 1948, lasted 45 minutes. The next day, March 19, Ambassador
Austin of the U.S. announced that the US would back a temporary
U.N. trusteeship of Palestine. Many thought it was the first step
in preventing a Jewish homeland. On Saturday morning, March 20,
1948 the headlines read: "Reversal of United States policy on
Palestine." Truman said "The State Department pulled the rug from
under me today . . . I am in the position of a liar and a double-crosser."
With the help of Clark Clifford, Special Counsel to the President,
they got everything back on track. On May 12, 1948, Clifford presented
the case to the President's Cabinet for the US de facto (a fact,
but not by official recognition) of Israel on May 14 as a nation.
He cited a scripture from Deuteronomy where God gave the Jewish
people the land of Palestine. January 31, 1949, eleven days after
Truman's new term began on January 20, 1949, the U.S. granted
de jure (official recognition) of the new state of Israel.
(Points 1 through 4, above, are quotes taken from Senator Ed Fredrick's
new upcoming book A New Earth.)
As we weigh the above information, we realize that both World
Wars I and II were primarily for the Jewish people in order that
they could have their homeland back and establish a new State
of Israel after over two thousand years of exile. The two men
responsible for ending both of these wars were Jewish. Chaim Weismann
and Robert Oppenheimer.
Today, we, as the United States of America, stand at the crossroads
of history once again in regard to Israel and the Jewish people.
If we continue to pressure Israel to form a separate Palestinian
State we are going to be in big trouble with God. The land of
Israel is God's land. He gave it to the Jewish people for an everlasting
possession. We cannot afford to be a part of dividing up God's
land and coming against His covenant people. If we try to violate
that we then come under His hand of judgement. Ironically, our
State Department is still permeated with a spirit of antisemitism;
a carry over from the Roosevelt days of the 30's and 40's. President
Bush has been receiving bad counsel on this issue, but things
can change if we pray, while at the same time find a way to get
the truth to our leader.
In closing, there is coming a Third World War called Armageddon
in which Israel will once again be the focal point and reason
for the war. And once again it will be a Jewish man who will put
an end to that war as well. His name is the Lord Jesus Christ,
the Jewish Messiah and Savior of the world. He is coming back
to rule and reign on this earth that He created and for which
he gave his life. What a day that will be!
